September 3rd, 2009 · No Comments

hublot_bigbang_skeleton1In 2008 the Hublot Big Bang watch collection was joined by a new timepiece – the Hublot Big Bang Skeleton watch. The timepiece was unveiled at the BaselWorld 2008, the World Watch and Jewellery Show organized each year in the Basel city, Switzerland.
The 44.5mm case of the Hublot Big Bang Skeleton watch is crafted from tungsten, a hard greyish element used in lamp filaments and high-speed cutting tools in alloy with steel. The same corrosion-proof material is used for the case-back and bezel of the timepiece. Six lugs inserted into the bezel are made from black composite resin, as well as lateral inserts. The design of the Hublot Big Bang Skeleton watch combines round and sharp angles, creating a striking effect.

But what makes the Hublot Big Bang Skeleton watch unique is the skeleton-like cut-out dial through which one can admire the watch mechanism. The dial is completed with black applique hour markers, and the time is indicated by H-shaped hands. Three sub-dials are positioned at 9 o’clock, 6 o’clock and between 3 and 4 o’clock – these are small seconds counter, 12-hour counter and 30-minute counter, respectively. The sapphire crystal protecting the dial is treated with an anti-reflection coating on the inside.
The Hublot Big Bang Skeleton watch is powered by Hublot HUB44 SQ caliber, an automatic winding movement. It comprises 252 components and provides a power reserve of 42 hours. The movement of the watch will not be damaged at a depth up to 100 meters. It is decorated with 27 rubies in order to keep time more accurately and reduce friction between the moving parts. This results in increased reliability of the watch.
The timepiece is supplied with a smooth black rubber strap decorated with the Hublot logo.
